The Story of Destroyer Marketing
It has always been my desire to create something that would change the world. As I’ve grown older, the exact way in which I was going to do so changed, but the end result was always the same: to leave the world better than when I entered it.
Destroyer Marketing aims to accomplish what I’ve always wanted to do. We want to help make a difference in people’s lives by getting them the visibility and sales that their business deserves.
Through the use of digital marketing, we are able to give businesses the boost that they need to reach their full potential.
Given this, my team and I have been asked a lot in the last few months about the story of Destroyer Marketing, and the reasoning behind our name.
Let’s go a little bit into my past before we start with the company’s history:
About Me (CEO – Matt Cameron):
I am a PhD Candidate who is studying Chemical Engineering in Philadelphia. My research to-date is on HIV research, and more specifically, on HIV small-molecule inhibition.
A large majority of my research is computer-based simulations where I am studying and characterizing the effect of numerous variables on HIV’s overall structure and infectivity.
In the course of my undergraduate and Masters programs I learned that, with hard work and dedication, it is possible to learn very complicated things in relatively short periods of time.
My time spent working at Johnson & Johnson, Johnson Matthey, and Croda Inc. have taught me to never be satisfied with keeping the status quo. Instead I always strive to go above and beyond, and over-deliver on my expectations.
Now, you are probably wondering why I’m doing marketing, website design, SEO, and social media marketing?
The analytical and critical thinking skills that I’ve learned throughout my experience has fueled my ability to grow and successfully develop Destroyer Marketing.
The same skills that make me a good Chemical Engineer set me apart in the digital marketing field. I approach marketing in a way that is unlike most other marketers.
You see, my approach is dictated by science and facts, rather than by emotions or guesses. This makes my techniques extra effective, because they are designed with analytics in mind, and validated by data.
This is why Destroyer Marketing WILL change the world.
The Start of Our Story
I began with website design
Around 8 years ago, I picked up website design as a hobby. I really just wanted to make a personal site, something along the lines of a resume site for myself.
I found that I was really good at the design work, and more than that, I really enjoyed it!
My next two sites, after the resume site, were simple post aggregator sites. The idea behind these is that I could make a site that pulls content from other sites, which means that I really wouldn’t have to do much work to maintain them.
The post aggregator sites didn’t really attract much of an audience, but their social media profiles did! Actually, I still get an average of 10 people a week liking the social media profiles of both. I haven’t even posted a single thing in 6 years.
However, in making these sites, I learned how to use Photoshop. I use this tool almost every day.
As I continued to build websites for fun, I realized that I wanted to explore learning how to make some money off of these sites. That’s where the next phase of my development came in…
At this point, I moved on to learning how to monetize my site. I did this initially through Adsense and on-page contextual advertisement, but I quickly expanded to include Affiliate marketing.
Now, I knew that my systems were set up well, and that my sites were capable of making money. However, they weren’t actually making anything! This is when I realized that in order to move forward, I was going to have to learn how to drive traffic to my sites.
The holy grail of making money online: Traffic
To drive traffic to my site, I began to look into social media marketing. During this time, I got really good at growing all sorts of social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.). As a result, I started to really see a lot of traffic coming to my sites.
I found some really exciting success when my blogs and sites began to make money off of people that were actually interested in the content that I had written!
SEO: Welcome to the Adult Table
Eventually, I started playing around with SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
SEO can be quickly described by saying it is how you can rank a site so that it shows up in the Google search when a specific keyword or phrase is typed in.
Using both on-page and off-page optimizations, it is possible to get a business or a website to rank for almost any term imaginable.
SEO is one of my powerful tools now. It’s something that I can really use to help your business grow.
This is where Destroyer Marketing comes in. You see, after I did all of this work, and spent all of this time to learn how to do everything, I began to notice the flaws in other websites and the poor technique of a lot of business social media accounts.
I realized that I could do a lot better than what they had now. Given this, I made the decision to form my own company, Destroyer Marketing.
Destroyer Marketing seemingly grew overnight, with my first 10 clients signing contracts within the first month alone. I quickly expanded my operations to include a few of my best lifelong friends.
With their help, Destroyer Marketing has continued to grow, and is bigger than ever! We even have dedicated graphic designers, video editors, and website designers so that I don’t have to do the work alone anymore.
I have no doubt that Destroyer Marketing will change the world. I’m just excited that I get to be such a large part of it.
